Dezeen Showroom: designer Paul Crofts repurposed leftover cork from the manufacturing of wine stoppers to create this modular seating system for furniture brand Isomi.
Designed by Crofts, Tejo is a "reconfigurable, recyclable and renewable" modular seating collection that can become a bench, a single sofa and a double back-to-back sofa.

The curving components were filled with natural latex rather than foam and upholstered with natural wool, flax or hemp in place of synthetic fabrics.
Instead of a traditional plywood frame, Tejo features a base made from recycled cork salvaged from the production of wine stoppers.

"Grown in responsibly managed forests in the Portuguese region of Alentejo ? which gives the sofa its name ? cork is ideal for use in seating as it is not only soft, tactile and visually beautiful, but it also regenerates naturally," said Isomi. Tejo is available in a variety of colours and was created to cater to commercial spaces including retail and hospitality settings, as well as workplaces.
Additional elements including table units, screen dividers, planters, power outlets and charging ports can be incorporated into the design.
