Originally constructed in the 1990s in the traditional Canadian log house style, the residence underwent a recent renovation that transformed its interior into a stylish and unexpected space. Little Giant, led by architect Mark Burkart, took on the project with a design approach that marries sparse and minimalist elements with organic and natural touches, resulting in a uniquely curated interior that reflects the vision of homeowner Lyndon Cormack, co-founder and MD of Herschel Supply Co. Cormack expressed a desire for a cozy cabin that respected the original features while introducing playful “zones” to the living spaces.
The living room of this picturesque cabin perfectly exemplifies the blend of contemporary and retro styling. Balancing the rustic log construction with modern and organic elements, the space features a dramatic Bocci lighting fixture and a riverstone fireplace. The mantel showcases a pop of 1970s color with Andy Warhol’s Space Fruit Watermelon, while a B&B Husk chair and a black Riva wooden stool contribute to the retro vibe.
