Interviewed as part of our carbon revolution series, the experts cast doubts on the effectiveness of afforestation, as the trees planted need to grow for a long time to be effective as carbon stores.
"Planting trees is probably the most difficult potential method from a measurement and verification perspective," Paul Gambrill, CEO of carbon marketplace Nori told Dezeen.
Construction industry "doesn't know where it stands when it comes to carbon emissions"
Continuing the carbon revolution series, a report revealed that only one per cent of new buildings are being assessed to determine their carbon footprint.
