Tiny Bunker Home Transformed Into a Mesmerizing Refuge
Life taught us that looks can be deceiving. The following volume could be easily described as a neglected storage, an old shed or abandoned place, maybe even a mountain liar. The settlement looks old, experience in our world. The metal door wears rust in a tiny 20-foot-wide facade. Nothing else. A tiny bunker home.
If you are the lucky enough to get an invitation into the establishment, step in without concern, charm and beauty is what this old bunker hides. The home’s interior is spectacular to say at-least, a central atrium offers it a monumental stance and despite what one might believe, the interior nestles light in every room, creating a magical ambiance.
The home is terraced on three storeys at the base of a small hill, beautifully embedded in the lush vegetation.
The beautiful home was finalized in 2015 by Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architects, in the steep site in Caviano, Switezerland, overlooking the great Lake Maggiore. The slim and tall silhouette that sits at the base of the hill rather than on top of it beautifully is subdued to its surroundings, adorned in vegetation.
Different concrete textures have been tailored along glass wood, metal and rough stores alike into a balanced composition that highlights the interior spaces to subtle contrasts of texture. Multiple skylights, windows and shafts are allowing light to flood the interiors.
