Toronto Society of Architects celebrates fourth annual Gingerbread City

The Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) is rolling out its fourth annual Gingerbread City showcase, a hybrid exhibit full of edible structures that celebrate architecture with a holiday twist.
The event, which started in 2020, aimed to be a community-building event amongst Toronto?s architectural community. This year, TSA Gingerbread City includes a virtual exhibit and a small in-person showcase at The Maker Bean Café, located at 1052 Bloor Street West in Toronto.
This year’s submissions were received through an open call and include renditions of some of Toronto?s modern architectural landmarks such as Ontario Place, City Hall, Cloud Gardens, and the Fort York Visitor Centre.
Behind these unique creations are architects, bakers, and clever place makers from across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), many of whom will be in attendance at the Maker Bean Café on Saturday, December 16 for TSA’s first ever Meet the Makers event. Tommy Thompson by Team DTAH
This casual drop-in event will provide an opportunity for the community to meet some of the talented gingerbread architects and designers behind this year?s showcase, view their creations, and learn about their gingerbread making process.
Additionally, returning as part of this year?s virtual Gingerbread City showcase, is Kids’ Main Street, a mixed-used streetscape that will feature more than 50 façades designed and built by children, ages 2 to 14.
