Tristan da Cunha Design Competition entry by Brock Carmichael Architects:
28th September 2016 – The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is pleased to announce that a team led by Brock Carmichael Architects has won the Tristan da Cunha Design Ideas Competition. The competition, run by RIBA Competitions on behalf of the Government of Tristan da Cunha, sought design ideas to create a more self-sustainable future for the South Atlantic Ocean island community of Edinburgh of the Seven Seas. The competition encouraged innovative and cost-effective proposals for the re-design and consolidation of Tristan?s government (community infrastructure) buildings. The brief encouraged initiatives to significantly improve the standard and performance of residential properties, together with improvements to the island?s agrarian systems to better support grazing and the year-round growth of fresh produce.
