Villa tile collection by Greg Natale for Kaolin
Dezeen Showroom: Australian interior designer Greg Natale has combined the look of marble with metallic inlays in the Villa tile collection, created for manufacturer Kaolin.
The Villa porcelain tile collection features a choice of four of Natale's favourite stones ? Calacatta Viola, Nero Antico, Rosa Levanto and Pink Patagonia ? each overlaid with a linear pattern in either brass or black.
The Villa tile collection features linear patterns on marble-look tiles
The large-format tiles are made using a new technique that creates the look of inlaid stone without the labour-intensive traditional process of cutting and inserting metal pieces. Instead, the pattern is engraved on the tiles and a lacquered finish recreates the sheen of real metal.
This approach also has the benefit of enhanced longevity and durability, as there is less chance of the tiles showing damage than with traditional inlay. There are four design options including one based on Rosa Levanto stone
Kaolin says that the Villa collection "redefines what is possible in porcelain tile design and application" and possesses "an exclusive, high-end quality".
This is especially the case in the Rosa Levanto design, which features another Kaolin technology called Endless Vein to create a seamless flow of vein from tile to tile. A more limited version of this technology is applied in the Nero Antico design, extending over eight pieces.
