Gustafson Porter + Bowman reveals Eiffel Tower parks redesign
British landscape architecture studio Gustafson Porter + Bowman are redesigning the approaches to the Eiffel Tower in Paris ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The London studio won the competition for the Site Tour Eiffel project, beating entries from Koz Architects, Amanda Levete, and Agence Ter.
New parks and pools will be added to the areas around the Eiffel Tower
Gustafson Porter + Bowman's redesign aims to address crowding issues and improve services at the Parisian landmark ahead of the Olympic Games being held in the French capital.
Called One Line, Gustafson Porter + Bowman's vision for the famous landmark is add more greenery to the areas either side of the Eiffel Tower.
Gustafson Porter + Bowman's planting scheme will increase the site's biodiversity One Line will create a green corridor the Palais de Chaillot at the Place du Trocadéro and the École Militaire at the Place Joffre. It will feature an amphitheatre at the Trocadéro and more public space around the Varsovie Fountains.
Pont d'Iéna is going to be turned into a green bridge, and the Champ de Mars will have two new squares and raised lawns.

"One evokes the union of two historic landscape typologies: classical French gardens, characterised by major axes that express power; and French picturesque gardens, as places of artistic experimentation," said Gustafson Porter + Bowman.
