The village of P?Ãchovice sits in a valley in the lower Jizera Mountains. In this village, there is a pub and bed and breakfast, U ?ápa (At the Crane), that offers a beautiful view of the plains below the mountains. Ale? Voverka and Vlastimil Pechá?ek work hard at refining this place.
Ale? contributed to the model of the cylindrical tower at the Venice Biennale. First, he exhibited it in the cinema in Tanvald and then he decided to build Lighthouse and museum of Jára Cimrman, full size.
Behind the U ?ápa is a rock formation with a grove of beech trees. We decided to situate our tower on this formation, declaring it a lighthouse in memory of the local hero, Jára Cimrman (a fictional polymath or universal genius created by Zden?k Sv?rák and Ji?à ?ebánek). Below the tower, the boys built a museum dedicated to the master.
The lighthouse looms over the valley like a raised finger, and the museum is hidden in the rock below it. It has become a natural continuation of the rock.
