Tully Heard to create rooftop urban farm and eatery at Burwood Brickworks

Tully Heard, the team behind acre Eatery Camperdown, The Greens North Sydney and The Fernery Mosman has won the competitive tender to create Australia?s first shopping centre rooftop urban farm and eatery at Fraser Property?s Burwood Brickworks which will open in late 2019. Tully Heard will design, establish and operate the 2,000sqm urban farm and restaurant precinct as an extension to its successful Sydney venture, acre Eatery which it launched in Camperdown in 2016.
?Our aim with acre Eatery has always been about changing how urban dwellers think about, experience and consume food. The opportunity to extend our concept into Melbourne and be a part of Burwood Brickworks, which is anticipated to be home to the world?s most sustainable retail development, makes this an exciting win for the Tully Heard team,? said John Tully, Director of Tully Heard. ?acre Farm & Eatery Brickworks? will be the heart of the Burwood Brickworks retail development, that aims to be the first retail development in the world to achieve full Living Building Challenge certification which includes targets such as the building generating more energy than it consumes. Visionary, disruptor and environmental activist Joost Bakker will act as creative consultant on the urban rooftop farm, helping the acre Farm & Eatery team to bring the unique concept to life with his experience in environmental design, closed loop hospitality, repurposing salvaged materials and healthy agricultural management.
