WE Architecture Designs Boat House in Danish Island Zealand
Entitled Boat House and envisioned by Copenhagen-based architecture practice WE Architecture the simple wooden cabin that follows joins the ranks of “countryside calm and peace” that became a movement in our hectic, chaotic urban medium today. It has been designed for a private client in serene, surreal setting, 20 meters from the water line; it uses wood meant to age with its surroundings, the cabin being subdued somewhere in the Danish Island Zealand.
The refuge ought to accommodate storage for sufficient activities thus nestling boats, bikes, kayaks, fishing gear and various tools with which one ought to explore the island and make the best of it. The living area enjoys a clean layout in which exposed wooden beams greatly contribute, cedar wood was been chosen by the architects as it was meant to highlight the naturalness pursued; cedar earns in time a silver-grey patina on the facade thus becoming neutral, unobtrusive in its landscape, it is also highly resilient to moisture, a great feat in the pursuit of longevity. Concrete floors are used throughout to create a slight contrast with the wood`s warmth, the mineral floor plan also anchors the dwelling in its setting taking the rocky and sandy nature of the island into consideration.
