Zaha Hadid Design's Le-a table takes its corkscrew shape from the classic double-bun hairstyle worn by Princess Leia in Star Wars.
Created for pop culture collectable company Leblon Delienne, the table's two straight ends are contrasted by a looping middle, which also provides support for the furniture.

The piece is finished in shiny black glass and carbon fibre, although the table can also be ordered in white, brass or silver finishes.
It's not the first time the studio has drawn inspiration from the Star Wars universe, with late architect Zaha Hadid basing a desk ? designed for a Disney event at London's Somerset House in 2016 ? on a headdress worn by Queen Amidala.

Although the film franchise might seem like an unusual source of inspiration, Zaha Hadid Design told Dezeen that the studio's style is "perfectly in line with Star Wars pop culture, science fiction, futurist style". Leblon Delienne specialises in products based around well-known characters and series ? everything from Mickey Mouse sculptures to homeware based on Alice in Wonderland's tea party. The brand describes the table as "a perfect fit for most contemporary interiors".

Zaha Hadid Design was set up by the architect in 2006, and has created furniture and homeware in partnership with brands including Alessi, Artemide and Sawaya & Moroni.
