As an eco-friendly project focused on minimizing human needs and the impact on the land, Mary Arnold-Forster Architects have completed a project hidden in the Scotish Highlands which is catching attention because of the planks of burnt larch used to construct the cross-laminated timber house seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
You can find this home in the small village of Nedd which is also the title of the project, ?The Nedd House?. No single slab foundation was used to minimize the effect it has on its natural surroundings. Instead, the installation sits quietly on several concrete pillars for support. Careful thought was also taken into planning to make sure not to choose an area where the rocks wouldn?t be broken.
