UUfie Designs Surreal Lake Cottage With Mirrored Entrance
Cedar walls, mirrors, the details of a woodland retreat nestled in Ontario by the Canadian Studio entitled UUfie. The small cabin, entitled Lake Cottage emphasizes an existent family house that resides beside the Kawartha Lakes. The new extensions adds a living room and dinning, the whole establishment being envisioned by Japanese architect Eiri Ota and Canadian architect Irene Gardpoit Chan of UUfie.
A steep, pitched roof has been wrapped in black steel; the two gabled ends are clad with cedar, latter charred to protect it from fire and termites.
“Lake Cottage is a reinterpretation of living in a tree house where nature is an integral part of the building,” the architects relate.
A small sheltered recess spans the front end of the cabin. Mirrored panels are covering the sides and ceiling alike reflecting an immense amount of light along with the entire landscape, the beautiful surroundings, the snow, trees and leaves finding a new refuge in the mirror plane.
The rectangular living room resides in the center whereas the dinning room is linked to the existing home.
