Wonderful Wood Museum in Turkey
The Odunpazari Modern Museum, built by the Japanese architectural firm Kengo Kuma and Associates, has just opened in northwestern Turkey. The firm is recognized for its many projects but also because of its preference for natural materials such as wood used for the museum. The building, which consists of interlocking blocks of wood, welcomes both modern art and local contemporary art, as well as foreign works, making the space a place of intercultural sharing. Odunpazari, the district in which the museum has been built, was previously a place wood trade and exchange, history on which the firm decided to work on, to link historical past and the current architecture of the museum.
