Leading architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) are collaborating with Carlo Ratti Associati (CRA) to work on designing a 51-storey development in Raffles place, Singapore. Situated right in the heart of Singapore’s buzzing financial district, this high rise mixed-use development includes residential space with 299 units, an office space, retail shops, and a two-storey food market. Other partners developing Raffles place include CapitaLand and Mitsubishi Estate.
Since the construction process of the Raffles Place has already started, the building is expected to be completed by 2021. Rising 280 metres high, the skyscraper is perceived as a vertical, multi-functional community.

The Raffles place development is part of the government’s efforts to convert the area into a lively green zone with more communal spaces, cycling routes and pedestrian-friendly areas. As a matter of fact, their plans include transforming a part of the street into a 12,500 square foot park for public engagement.
