The RAIC is moving toward a new designation ? RAIC ? to be used only by licensed architects starting next year.
The board of the RAIC has voted to limit the use of this designation to members licensed by provincial regulators to practice architecture and to sunset the MRAIC designation. There are two exceptions: interns will be allowed to use the designation RAIC (Intern) and retired licensed architects RAIC (Retired). This reflects the importance of the internship process to the future of the profession and acknowledges retiring members? contribution in the past. No changes will be made to the FRAIC designation given to members of the College of Fellows.
The new policy aims to ensure that RAIC carries the same clear distinction as MD for medical doctors and P.Eng for engineers.
