Canadian Buildings included in Time Magazine’s 100 Greatest Places
Canadian buildings are among the destinations included in Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 greatest places “to experience right now.”
The second annual list was compiled by soliciting nominations across a variety of categories?including museums, parks, restaurants, and hotels?from the magazine’s editors and correspondents around the world, as well as from industry experts.
The Calgary Central Library, which the list describes as an “architectural masterpiece,” was selected as one of the top places to visit. Designed by Snøhetta in association with DIALOG, the much-anticipated building has a bold, eye-shaped form that derives from the LRT tracks running underneath it.

Another destination in the list with a Canadian link is the Xiqu Centre in Hong Kong. It was designed by Vancouver-based Revery Architecture (formerly Bing Thom Architects), in joint venture with Ronald Lu & Partners. The project was in progress when architect Bing Thom suddenly passed away.
Xiqu Centre is the first performance venue to open as part of Hong Kong?s sprawling West Kowloon Cultural District, an international-grade arts hub the city is building on reclaimed land overlooking the iconic Victoria Harbor.
