The Washington, D.C.-based education and advocacy organization will award the Oberlander Prize every other year, beginning in 2021. The award will carry a monetary award of $100,000 and two years of public engagement activities that will raise the visibility of the honoree?s work and of landscape architecture.
As curator, Beardsley will craft the prize?s intellectual content, support the jury process, and play an integral role in developing public engagement programs.
TCLF set a goal of raising $4.5 million to endow the Oberlander Prize in perpetuity, which includes funding for the curator, jury activities, and all related programming. In a separate initiative called the 100 Women Campaign, the friends, colleagues, and admirers of Cornelia Hahn Oberlander have come together to raise more than $800,000.
